Welcome to Lips Painted Blue - An Animated Series website. This website was designed with children and tweens with pulmonary hypertension in mind. This project, while taking some time to come together, came from late night brainstorming about how to better support kids suffering from this disease. We sincerely hope these short cartoons will help you better understand what is going on with you, the medications you may encounter, but most importantly help you remember that you are an amazing kid and can do anything you put your mind to!
Throughout this website you will find several short videos to help you better understand the disease of pulmonary hypertension. This cartoon documents the life of a young boy, Jeremy, and his family as they find out about his diagnosis with the disease. You will get to meet him, his family, his doctor, and of course his all too familiar younger brother.
This project was made possible by the Tom Lantos Innovation in Community Service Award from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. This project came together, ultimately, from the wild imagination of Sean Wyman, who was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension at 19 years old. Having mentored many individuals younger than him who also had pulmonary hypertension, he realized that this type of resource was missing. With the creativity of a few of his friends, the collaboration of several doctors, the earnest work of two great animators and the gracious voices of several great actors Lips Painted Blue - An Animated Series is presented to you here.
PHA's Tom Lantos Innovation in Community Service Award is funded by Gilead.
